This bachelor thesis examines and discusses the question: "How can graphics for newscasts be adapted to follow technological developments in various media and increase its informative quality?" The work was performed on Swedish Television's own graphic department, SVT design in order to examine how news graphics need to be developed to follow the technological changes in media. The production resulted in a news graphics concept divided into three parts. Two of the sections show examples of how graphics can be adapted according to platform and the third section shows examples of news graphics that are produced at SVT Design by me. This trend is supported by even better graphics cards from the hardvare industry. This must be taken into consideration when the architecture of a new graphics engine is to be designed. The engines renderer is responsible of generating a picture of scene data. The renderer must cope with increasingly more complex scenes, and must be able to render them depending on available hardvare capasity.

Mentorskap mellan två lärare i skolan : upplevelser och erfarenheter av en adept och en mentor

Syftet med denna undersökning var att få ta del av en nyexaminerad lärare och en mentors erfarenheter och upplevelser av mentorskap. Metoden var att intervjua en adept och en mentor, som tillsammans hade haft en mentorskapsrelation. Intervjuerna gjordes av två personer med öppna och ostrukturerade frågor, vilket ledde till följdfrågor. Resultatet visade att de båda enbart hade positiva erfarenheter och upplevelser av mentorskap. Det visade sig att det viktigaste med ett väl fungerande mentorskap var erfarenhet inom yrket hos mentorn och en vilja och ett engagemang hos alla inblandade parter..

GPGPU : Bildbehandling på grafikkort

GPGPU is a collective term for research involving general computation on graphics cards. A modern graphics card typically provides more than ten times the computational power of an ordinary PC processor. This is a result of the high demands for speed and image quality in computer games.This thesis investigates the possibility of exploiting this computational power for image processing purposes. Three well known methods where implemented on a graphics card: FFT (Fast Fourier Transform), KLT (Kanade Lucas Tomasi point tracking) and the generation of scale pyramids. All algorithms where successfully implemented and they are tree to ten times faster than correspondning optimized CPU implementation..

Om man vill skapa ett realistiskt hav inom Computer Graphics är det viktigt att man har snygga övergångar till andra material. Ett exempel på detta är stränder och det är precis där fokusen på den här studien har legat. Studien gick ut på att hitta en enklare lösning på att visuellt förbättra stränder inom Computer Graphics. För att göra detta så testade två olika metoder i olika experiment. Den ena tekniken som testades var att simulera partiklar för att få fram en bättre strandlinje och de andra var att skapa en shader för att förbättra den.

This essay serves to illustrate the main practical differences between the popular medium-level programming language C++ (C Plus Plus), and the newer high-level language C# (C Sharp). It will focus on the aspects that are readily apparent to the application programmer, such as differing syntax, constraints and capabilities.It will also feature a similar comparison between the open source OpenGL graphics library, and the proprietary Direct3D graphics library owned by Microsoft Corporation.It will not go into the differences in ?under the hood? mechanics that the application programmer seldom have to consider after having chosen his programming language or graphics API, such as C# being compiled into an intermediate language and is run on a virtual machine where C++ is compiled directly to machine code, or the differing principles of rendering in OpenGL and Direct3D.This is by no means comprehensive, many things have been left out or overlooked..

Mentorskap i skolan: en metod och en möjlighet för
nyexaminerade lärare

Detta examensarbete belyser ett mentorskap mellan en nyexaminerad lärare, adept, och en erfaren lärare, mentor. Utifrån forskningsrapporter och litteraturstudier har vi studerat hur mentorskap som modell och metod för nyexaminerade lärare har framställts. I examensarbetets bakgrund definierade vi mentorskap samt mentorns och adeptens roll, dessutom presenterade vi teorier om reflektion och lärande samt tidigare forskning. Syftet med studien var att visa mentorskapets för- och nackdelar som metod och möjlighet för att stödja nyexaminerade lärare i en framtida yrkesroll. Vår empiriska studie, som byggde på en kvalitativ metod, visade på vilka uppfattningar och förväntningar som 54 lärarstudenter har på mentorskap.

SammanfattningBakgrund: Dagens skola lägger ner mycket tid på teoretisk lärande på gymnasie- och högskolenivå. Förr gick man mentor-lärlingsutbildningar som nästan bara gav praktisk utbildning. Idag är vi nu på väg in i en ny gymnasiereform där mentor-lärlingssituationer är på väg tillbaka tillbaka in i den svenska gymnasieskolan.Syfte: Syftet med arbetet är att studera två utbildningsmodeller som finns för restaurangvärlden.Metod och material: Fyra intervjuer genomfördes till denna studie med svenska nuvarande/före detta köksmästare på fine dining-restauranger. Dessa intervjuer var utformade efter metoden halvstrukturerade intervjuer.Resultat: Det viktiga om man går en utbildning eller mentor-lärlingssituationer att man har har intresset, viljan och motivationen. För att nå de högre positionerna i ett restaurangkök är det viktigt att du gått någon form av utbildning.Diskussion: Utbildning värderas högt i dagens samhälle men i restaurangvärlden kan det anses att bara för att man har något, skrivet på papper överensstämmer det inte alltid med den egentliga kunskapen personen besitter.Slutsats: Som kock i framtiden måste man kunna erbjuda ett ?paketerbjudande?.

This report is part of the major thesis carried out at Stoneridge Electronics in Bromma,Stockholm during autumn and winter 2005-2006. The background to the thesis is the trendwithin the automotive industry where color displays have become more common for presentationof information to the driver, a trend that has come to the commercial vehicle market. To give a realistic impression in a driving simulator for nighttime driving, there are many challenging aspects to consider. One of the most important aspects is the illumination caused by the headlights of the own vehicle. To give a realistic impression there is the need to consider the characteristics of the headlight in use to be able to represent main and dipped beam, but also to represent different models and types of headlights. Another important aspect is the dazzling effects caused by the light cast by other vehicles upon the driver. These effects are not only important to give a realistic and visually appealing simulation, but also to simulate blinding effects which may affect the drivers ability to perceive the traffic environment to a large degree.
